Cheatgrass is an invasive grass that has devastated much of the sagebrush steppe across the West. This species threatens our way of life in Gunnison, our ranching heritage, wildlife habitat, recreation, and increases catastrophic wildfire risk. Cheatgrass is here in the Gunnison Basin and increasing each year! Its up to us, the people of the Gunnison Basin to stop the spread! The 2023 City-Wide Gunnison Cheatgrass Pullday will be a community effort to pull cheatgrass across Gunnison city limits. After we pull cheatgrass, we will celebrate our home with free beer, shirts, swag, Mario's pizza, and live music. The individual who pulls the most cheatgrass gets a $100 gift card to Gene Taylors and there are awesome consolation prizes for second and third place. Help stop the spread of cheatgrass and protect our precious Basin by pulling the invader from our soil on June 10th! |
