The Gunnison Rotary Fishing Tournament takes place in 2022 the first weekend in May for teams of two passionate fisher folk. Winners are determined by the weight of 8 fish caught in Blue Mesa Reservoir - four on Saturday, May 7th and 4 on Sunday, May 8th. Check-in at Elk Creek Marina is Friday, May 6th. The top winning teams share in half of the total of registration fees. Other prizes are all kinds of fishing gear. Ball caps with the year and name of tournament are given out at check-in. The community is invited to watch as the fish come in - 2:00 on Saturday and noon on Sunday. It's a hoot! The fish are either taken home for supper or put back in the lake by Fish and Wildlife.
