The Colorado Navajo Resiliency Project is proud to present an art auction to support an Indigenous artist and his continuing work in his community of the Navajo Nation. You can find auction details at 32auctions.com/cnrp Take Joledus is a Diné (Navajo) artist and activist. We are offering 10 limited edition prints of his work for auction. 1-5/50 of "Hozho" - mixed media Diné street art, and 1-5/50 of "Resistance" - digital media Diné street art. This is a unique opportunity to buy one of these two powerful pieces of art, and support an Indigenous activist at the same time. As an indispensable member of the Colorado Navajo Resiliency Project, he has been the primary means of distribution of the supplies that we have provided. Driving his small car hundreds of miles a day, on the rough roads, to reach the elders living by themselves with no electricity or running water, and seeking out the unsheltered on the streets, Jake has been the face of the Colorado-Navajo Resiliency Project to the people on the ground. After more than a year of distribution, the roads have taken their toll on Jake's car. By creating this auction, we hope to to raise funds for Jake and his continuing work, with the aim of getting him a new vehicle. The Colorado Navajo Resiliency Project was created in the spring of 2020, as the global pandemic was having a devastating impact on the people of the Navajo Nation, known as the Diné. In collaboration with Diné activists working through mutual aid networks to achieve food and water sovereignty, Colorado activists Denise Luttrell and Kirsten Atkins began a fundraising campaign, a food collection drive, and organized a series of supply runs from Colorado to the Gallup, NM area. Through the efforts of a team of concerned individuals, and with the generous assistance of our donors, large and small, to date we have delivered: * $20,000+ in donated and purchased food * a 30 hp tractor with tiller * 20,000+ gallons of water storage for rainwater catchment systems * rain gutters for water collection * drip irrigation systems * winter clothing and supplies for the unsheltered * hoop houses * gardening tools * cash stipends for crews building community gardens * gas money for distribution of goods * 1000s of lbs of fresh produce donated by Colorado's North Fork Valley farmers This is an ongoing, grassroots, Colorado-based project supporting food sovereignty and long-term sustainability for the communities of the Navajo Nation. As always, we continue to accept monetary donations, and if anyone has a suitable vehicle they would like to donate, please contact us through our GoFundMe page https://www.gofundme.com/f/navajo-nation-covid19-supply-run Auction closes at 6pm on Thursday August 26th. Don’t miss your chance to own one of these beautiful prints! 32auctions.com/cnrp Click here for the event website |
