Learn more about the role of the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company (CF&I) in the industrialization of the west and in the history of Colorado and Crested Butte on Saturday, April 10th at 6 pm at The Center for the Arts. From the utopian vision of steel mill founder William Jackson Palmer to the turbulence of 19th and 20th century labor relations and the impacts of company policies on a workforce that once included one in ten Coloradans, this one-hour film brings the epic events and enormous scale of an essential western industry to life. Forging the West tells the story of the steel mill that fueled the development of the American West — its railroads, structures, politics, ethnic diversity and, to a large degree, its character. Doors open at 5:30pm and the film will start at 6pm. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at https://crestedbuttearts.org Click here for the event website |
