Public workshops will be held Tuesday, March 26, and Wednesday, April 3, to continue discussions on the US Forest Service’s upcoming Taylor Park Vegetation Management Project. The Vegetation Management Project, which proposes commercial and non-commercial treatments on approximately 15,000 acres in the Taylor Park area, is intended to increase forest resiliency to stressors like insects and drought. The meetings will both be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the West Wing of Western Colorado University’s Leslie J. Savage Library. Attendees will have the opportunity to identify and record their features and places in the Taylor Park Area that are of importance, as well as learn about the NEPA process regarding the project’s draft Environmental Assessment. They will also be able to provide feedback and advice on the formation of an Adaptive Management Group to compliment the Taylor Park Vegetation Management Project. Distance/virtual options for attendance are available during the 4:30-6:30 sessions. Additional virtual sessions for those who are unable to attend the meetings will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. on March 28 and April 5. Please visit centerforpubliclands.org/taylor-park for more information about how to access the virtual sessions, including materials from the March 11 and March 26 meetings, as well as information about the Taylor Park Vegetation Management project.
