Townie Books will host author, Jason Heller for a reading and signing of his new book, Strange Stars: David Bowie, Pop Music, and the Decade Sci-Fi Exploded on Thursday, August 23rd at 6PM. Heller is a Hugo Award-winning writer whose work has appeared in The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, The Atlantic, NPR, Entertainment Weekly, and others. Strange Stars is a close study of the musicians, lyrics, sounds, genres, influences, mythology, instruments, dances, costumes, cover art, marketing, and stage sets of the seventies and their science-fiction themes. The event is free and open to the public. Townie Books is located at 414 Elk Avenue and can be reached at 349-7545.
