The 5th Annual Trek for Life will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 which is a memorial hike over West Maroon Pass during Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month to celebrate and remember the lives of those no longer with us. The hike is designed to raise awareness about and reduce the stigma associated with behavioral health issues among individuals living in high altitude communities like Crested Butte. The Mountain West, known as the nation’s suicide belt, effects children, adolescents, and families living above 8,000ft in high altitude town of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming where suicide rates are 3 times the national average! Suicide ranks as the: • 2nd leading cause of death for ages 10–34 • 4th leading cause of death for ages 35–54 You can learn more at: https://trekforlife.net
