plea for help at the shelter
Add to your calendar
Date: November 17
Continues Until:
Location: 26651 Hwy 135
Details: This is a plea for help at PAWS. Our pets need more people who will sit with them, talk to them, read to them, help them to trust. In addition, some of them need someone to walk them. Bunny is a 6 y old Havanese who came to us from the National Mill Dog Rescue. She was used for breeding in a puppy mill and therefore, has special needs. She came to us afraid of loud noises, sudden movements, and of children. She gets along well with other dogs. Until she finds a quiet, stable foster home or forever home, she needs quiet, gentle adult volunteers who can offer petting & snuggling, read to her, etc. to help her develop confidence & trust. Bobbi is a 6 y old Bichon frise who also came to us from the National Mill Dog Rescue. She, too, suffers from problems similar to those of Bunny. She is timid toward people she doesn’t know, sudden noises & movements. When left unattended, she can become so highly stressed that she barks & paces compulsively. She needs volunteers coming in during our shifts AND during the in-between times to give her exclusive attention, petting & snuggling, reading to her, etc. Sugar is a 2y old blue-gray short-hair cat who loves to play. She has the run of the PAWS lobby & lots of toys. She’d like more people to play with. Regular shifts at PAWS are: 8-9am, 12-1pm, 4-5pm, 8-9pm If you are already a volunteer, please sign up for some shifts. We need at least 2 people per shift. If you know people who are not a volunteers but can help, please have them call PAWS at 970-209-3656. Even if you can’t manage a whole shift & have only 20 or 30 minutes to donate toward their care, come on in - it will help these critters. More people per shift means more individual time for each pet.
