Dear Headwaters Friends, It’s time to save the date for our 29th Headwaters Conference, October 12-14, 2018. We are excited to announce that we will begin with a Friday night keynote address on October 12 with Dr. Drew Lanham, writer and wildlife ecologist. We are also celebrating this year’s partnership with the National Wilderness Workshop, convening in Gunnison, October 9-13. The workshop will bring together wilderness managers, educators, Tribal leaders, resource managers, and interested citizens, thinking around the theme, “Connect to Wilderness Heritage.” We are excited to bring together the Headwaters Community with the Wilderness Workshop for shared Saturday events including expert panels and field explorations. This year’s Headwaters will be free of charge to the community. Stay tuned for more information on registration, coming later this summer. In the meantime, learn more about Dr. Lanham on his website, and I encourage you to read his short piece in Orion magazine, Nine Rules for the Black Birdwatcher, a longtime favorite of mine.
