To Participate: Kids ages 5 and up are invited to participate in the CB Chalk Walk! To enter, purchase a square for $5 in advance, or $8 the day of, and let your imagination run wild. Work alone or with friends to create your chalk work of art. Squares are located along the sidewalk space in front of the Alpenglow Stage, on the sidewalk along 6th St. in front of the Center, and along the south sidewalk through the park. Four feet or more of sidewalk space along the Chalk Walk is left open for spectators to walk along, see the artwork artists and community members are creating, and admire the work after the event. Those who enter to create a square will have a total of 4 hours from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to complete their work. From 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., a panel of judges will decide on winners in each age category based on originality of design, use of color, technical skill, and Best of Show. Watch the Professional: A professional artist, hired by the Center, will be onsite creating a commissioned piece for the event. Spectators and participants will have a chance to watch the artist at work, ask questions, and get inspired both during and after the 11:00 – 3:00 p.m. art creation time. This artist will not participate in the competition, or be judged by our panel, but will instead be paid to create a signature piece for the event. *If you are a chalk, pastel, or drawing artist and would like to be considered to create this artwork, please click HERE to apply. A file of that photograph will be available to you after the event to print and frame, add to your website, share on social media, etc. Rain Delay Plans: In the event of rain, the event will be moved to the following day, Sunday, July 1st at the same time.
