 The 6th Annual Trek for Life Memorial Hike over West Maroon Pass will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 during Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month when we celebrate and remember the lives of those no longer with us. This one day hike is designed to raise awareness about and reduce the stigma associated with behavioral health issues among individuals living in high altitude communities like Crested Butte. The Mountain West, also known as the nation’s suicide belt, has suicide rates more than 3 times the national average, is the 2nd leading cause of death for ages 10–34, and is the 4th leading cause of death for ages 35–54 100% of the funds we raise go directly to provide mental and behavioral health services at Gunnison Valley Health to those in the community who are un(der)insured.
