The Up Valley Down Valley Players in collaboration with the Gunnison High School Drama Club and the American Legion will present a Reader's Theater performance of "On a Note of Triumph" - an old time radio presentation commemorating the Allies' Victory in Europe over Nazi Germany on May 8, 1945. This program, which was the most listened to radio drama ever presented in the US, will remind today's audience of the costs and horrors of the Second World War and examine what we have learned to ensure we don't repeat the mistakes of the past. The performance will begin with recognition of 102 year old Navy Lieutenant Graham Witherspoon who is the last surviving World War II veteran in Gunnison County. The performance will be held at the Gunnison High School Auditorium on Monday, May 8th. The doors will open at 6:30 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm. Admission is by donations that will benefit the High School Activities Fund. The performance is being underwritten by Gunnison businesses American Family Insurance and Mario's Restaurant. This show may not be suitable for small children. Click here for the event website |
