In 2019, Gunnison County purchased the 13-acre Whetstone parcel, located just south of the Town of Crested Butte, with the intent of developing an affordable and workforce housing neighborhood for local community members. The County has recently contracted with a team of consultants led by Trestle Strategy Group and Williford LLC to produce a Sketch Plan by the end of 2021, which will set the stage for issuing an RFP for development of this property.
