Join the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum for an online speaker series celebrating National Preservation Month in Gunnison County. We aim to highlight the many significant rehabilitation efforts that have preserved the history of our communities. Held over Zoom, several speakers and their projects will be featured every Thursday from May 14th through June 11th, 7 pm - 8 pm MT. Each speaker and preservation story will be introduced by Duane Vandenbusche, who will also provide the historical context to that project. Schedule of speakers May 14th: Ian Billick, Executive Director of the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory (RMBL) presenting on rehabilitation and preservation efforts in Gothic, CO. May 21st: Molly Minneman and Jesse Early, Town of Crested Butte Historic Design Coordinators sharing the rehabilitation of the Railroad Depot in Crested Butte, CO. May 28th: Gunnison County Historic Preservation Commission members Justin Lawrence and David Primus will review Gunnison County rehabilitation such as the Alpine Tunnel and Ranger Station. June 4th: Gunnison County Historic Preservation Commission members Jody Reeser and David Primus will discuss the rehabilitation of historic buildings in the City of Gunnison. June 11th: Shelley Popke, Executive Director of the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum (CBMHM) discussing the rehabilitation of Tony's Conoco and Museum. Click here for the event website |
