Join the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum, Wednesday February 26th, at 7 pm to discuss and explore the political climate of the '70s. In this decade, Crested Butte became a National Historic District, a fire protection district was established, AMAX came to town, and the "old timers" were kicked off town council. Change was in the air and Crested Butte went full steam ahead. Learn how the political decisions of the 1970s continues to impact the community today. Panelists include: Bill Crank who served as mayor in the 1972 town council takeover; Roger Kahn who also sat on the 1972 town council; David Leinsdorf who served as county commissioner in the 1970s; and Bruce Baumgertner of BKR Associates who laid the groundwork for town planning and the future of Crested Butte. Audience is encouraged to participate by bringing questions for the panelists and stories to share about this influential decade. Click here for the event website |
