 Crested Butte Snowsports Foundation will host a screening of the cult classic extreme ski film “Blizzard of AAHH’s” as part of the flick’s 30th anniversary tour. The showing is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Center for the Arts in Crested Butte. Doors open at 6 p.m. for sale of pizza slices and raffle tickets, prizes for which include a pair of ROMP skis. The fundraiser also will include a look-alike contest. Don your best costumes of film stars Glen Plake, Mike Hattrup or Scot Schmidt as well as filmmaker Greg Stump. Tickets are $15 at the door or $12 before the show and can be purchased at ROMP Skis, 420 Belleview Ave. in Crested Butte. The 1988 release of the rockumentary-style “Blizzard of AAHHH’s” put fillmmaker Stump — as well as extreme skiing in general — on the map, inspiring a whole new generation of skiers and snowboarders and setting the stage for countless film production companies that would follow in Stump’s footsteps. The 30th anniversary edition of “Blizzard of AAHHH’s” includes a recut with bonus footage. Proceeds from the local screening benefit Crested Butte Snowsports Foundation, which provides financial support for youth in Crested Butte and Gunnison in their pursuit of competitive and recreational skiing and snowboarding.
