 Young musicians of the Gunnison Valley: Register online June 1 - July 15 to play on-stage at Guitar Town (August 11 at Copper Mountain) in Andy May's Acoustic Kids Showcases. Online registration: http://andymay.com/acoustic-kids-registration-guitar-town/ Acoustic Kids, which was born in 1990 at the Midwinter Bluegrass Festival in Fort Collins, provides young musicians opportunities to perform on-stage at iconic music festivals. The non-competitive program has been part of the Walnut Valley Festival (Winfield, KS) since 1990 and MerleFest (Wilkesboro, NC) since 2001. It has provided thousands of performance spots for youngsters before appreciative festival audiences for over a quarter-century. This will be our fourth Guitar Town. Details: Featured performers must be 16 or younger, but accompanists may be any age, and many family bands participate. Musicians age 16 or younger of all skill levels, beginner through pro, are welcome. Demos (simple audio or video) are a required part of the application. “Andy has a remarkable ability to make kids feel welcomed and valued as a person and musical contributors. Presented by Guitar Center, the event will take place August 10-12 at Copper Mountain Resort. This years’ performers include Al DiMeola, Robben Ford, Coco Montoya, John Jorgenson, Andy McKee, Pat Bergeson, Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley, Rory Hoffman, Christie Lenée, Stig Mathisen, Scott Goldman, and the Mark Selby Tribute, as well as Andy May’s Acoustic Kids. Acoustic Kids – Guitar Town 2018 will be a great chance for festival-goers to see some up-and-coming young guitar players from the region in addition to these legendary players.
