 Unconventional classical pianist Alpin Hong executes his repertoire from Bach, to Rachmaninoff, to Gershwin, like a rock star. His youthful vivacity and boundless energy coalesces all ages, experiences and backgrounds, collectively transporting everyone through undulating waves of experiences. Gently perfumed poetics. Thunderous passion. Notes that fall gracefully like water. Explode with fire. A skateboarder, snowboarder, video gamer and martial artist, Alpin is also formally trained as a Master at the Julliard School of Music, flaunting technical prowess on even the most strenuous pieces. His inspired renditions of the classics explain his standing room only performance at Carnegie Hall, his first prize in the 2001 Artists Guild International Competition. Interacting with his audience, Alpin translates the history, importance and validity of the classical piano that arises from a deep understanding and love of his art. Through global tours, sold out shows, and standing ovations, reviewers call him the modern day Pied Piper, wooing fans with his stunning technique, emotional range and rare humor. His excitement is contagious. Alpin makes classical music hip. In this community collaborative concert, Alpin is accompanied by a performance from the Crested Butte School of Dance.
