Contemporary: In this class I will be teaching the Horton technique. Lester Horton was interested in clearly defined shapes, as well as how a dancer can move through these shapes with energy and use of space. Horton technique emphasizes the whole-body approach including: flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness to allow freedom of expression. -Beginner Horton will include the very basics of Horton. Including Fortifications, laterals, across the floor combinations, and Prelude 1-2. -Advanced Beginner Horton will include also basic movements in the Horton Technique but move at a quicker pace during the class. The expectation of the savers retaining information and practicing in their own time will be higher. In Advanced Beginner Horton we will be learning Fortifications 1-5, Prelude 1-4, laterals, across the floor combinations, and floor work.
