Join Matt Reed from the High Country Conservation Advocates on a free, guided hike in Horse Ranch Park on August 23rd. The hike will start on the Dark Canyon trail and depart onto the Silver Basin Trail. The trail traverses around the western flanks of the Ruby Range and the Raggeds Wilderness with incredible views of the geological feature known as the Dyke. The proposed Horse Ranch Park Special Management area will provide additional protection to enhance the long-term recreational and conservation value of the area. Hike leaders will talk about what it will take to protect this special place and what you can do to help. We will meet at the CB 4-way stop at 8:30 a.m. to carpool to the trailhead. The distance round-trip will be approximately 6 miles and will be an in and out. We will be out until the afternoon, so please come prepared with hiking boots, water, lunch, sunscreen, rain gear, insect repellent, and anything else you may need. Group size will be limited to 10 in as we will cross into the Raggeds Wilderness area - so sign up before spots are filled!
