We are super excited at Townie Books to be hosting such an incredible author as Pam Houston!! If you haven't read her work you should start. She is well known for Cowboys Are My Weakness, but we think Deep Creek is her best book to date!! This is a ticked event!! For her entire career, Pam has traveled everywhere to teach others how to write. She always comes back to her ranch in Creede, CO at 9K feet in the CO Rockies, a place of deep snows and summer wildfires, where she tries to be a responsible caretaker for 2 horses, several sheep, a pair of incredibly childish donkeys, and her legendary wolfhounds. Weaving through the book are sections titled "Ranch Almanac," illustrated with Pam's own black and white photos. The Almanac follows the rhythms of outdoor work from stacking hay, to carving paths through waist high snow to the barn, to birthing lambs and watching the annual migrations of the bluebirds. All of this writing has a sense of urgency in the face of the ongoing human assault on our environment. "There is so much beauty, wisdom, and truth in the book.
