 The Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum will be holding a special themed historic walking tour on Saturday, July 28th at 9am. The tour, Early Transportation to the Gunnison Country led by local historian David Primus, describes the evolution and challenges of travel to the Gunnison Country in the early days. The tour begins with a slide show and discussion at the Crested Butte Museum, followed by a short walking tour of Crested Butte pointing out local transportation-related sites. Ute Indian trails, early exploration, fur trappers, wagon roads, railroads, and highways will be discussed using a set of historic maps created by the speaker and Gunnison County’s mapping department. Meet at the Museum. Tickets are $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Space is limited and tickets may be purchased in advance by visiting the Museum website or calling 970-349-1880
