 Rivers, lakes, and streams are the lifeblood of our wild public lands here in western Colorado. High Country Conservation Advocates is excited that the Forest Service is calling on the public to participate in Wild & Scenic River planning for the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forest as part of its Forest Plan revision. This is a rare opportunity for you to help shape management direction for the backcountry waters that you cherish! Join us at this event to share your personal experience and give us information on the Wild & Scenic places you want to protect! Our Water Program Director Julie Nania will discuss the public's role in this important process and how to write effective comments. We will have light refreshments and pizza from The Brick Oven! Protecting our free-flowing streams across the GMUG is essential. Public participation that highlights important riparian values, key scenic reaches, ecologic assets and geomorphic uniqueness on our creeks and lakes can help us define the values that make our rivers qualify for Wild and Scenic eligibility.
