 Gunnison Arts Center Upper Gallery: “99 Days Until Childbirth” by Abra Karbin. Opening: Friday, July 3, 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Show Dates: July 3 - 31. This body of work was primarily made during quarantine; Abra had recently found out she was pregnant and was lucky enough to be able to continue producing through this phase when the rest of the world seemed to screech to a halt. At a time surrounded by uncertainty, sadness, and fear Abra's work was an attempt to bring brightness, love and joy back into this world. It was also a time to come to terms not only with a changing world but a major change in her life. 99 days until childbirth represents the will to keep making, being and living true to oneself. |
