Gallery Openings: November 1, 5:00 - 8:00 pm Western Colorado University Art Department BFA Exhibition Celebrating the WCU Art Department’s best and brightest young artists, this exhibition is a culmination of the ongoing research and application of the artistic prowess of Western’s Bachelor of Fine Arts candidates whose exciting works will be on display. “Concerted” by Boo Radford. Concerto by Samuel Joseph Smythe ‘Concerted’ will consist of multiple installations of equal importance, which come together to make a disconcertingly beautiful whole. This multimedia show includes crochet, silicone, alcohol inks, beetle kill wood, paper, resin, and a concerto. Ushered into the gallery by a jellyfish bloom, you will find a body of work of beautiful anomalies; accompanied by an unconventional concerto by composer, Samuel Joseph Smythe. The mesa floor will be depicted through many layers of crochet, topped by a hovering mesa surface littered with bubbles. The Santa Rosa fires brought to life in disturbingly beautiful flashes of ink, and wood, once lost, now transformed into beautiful lanterns. These parts of equal significance come together to create a disquietingly stunning experience. Click here for the event website |
